How to Export Citations Using the Citation Manager


The Citation Manager is a built-in tool that allows you to save and export citations from articles, books, chapters, and case studies. This guide walks you through how to use it effectively.


Access & Availability

  • No account required – all users can access the Citation Manager.
  • Available on article pages and search results.


Saving Citations

From Article Pages:

  1. Click the “Cite” dropdown on the article homepage.
  2. Select “Add to Citation Manager”.

From Search Results:

  • You can save individual citations directly.
  • Bulk saving is not available from search results.

Viewing & Managing Citations

  • Access your saved citations via the Citation Manager.
  • Citations are session-based and will be lost once you leave the site.


Downloading Citations


Individual Downloads:

  • Use the “Cite” dropdown on any article to download a single citation.

Bulk Downloads:

  • Go to the Citation Manager to download all saved citations at once.

Supported Export Formats

You can export citations in the following formats:

  • .RIS – for tools like EndNote, Zotero, Mendeley, RefManager, EasyBib, Bookends, Papers
  • .TXT – for RefWorks
  • .BIBTEX – for LaTeX users


Importing into Reference Managers


EndNote (.RIS)

  1. Download the .RIS file.
  2. In EndNote Web, go to Collect → Import References.
  3. Browse to your file and select RefMan RIS as the import option.
  4. Choose a destination folder and click Import.

  1. Download the .txt file.
  2. In RefWorks, go to References → Import.
  3. Choose .txt File as the data source and database.
  4. Browse to your file and click Import.
