COUNTER 5.1 FAQ

Modified on Wed, 7 May at 6:26 PM

How do libraries access their COUNTER 5.1 reports?

Librarians will access their COUNTER 5.1 reports in one of two ways:

1) Through the COUNTER harvester (formerly SUSHI)

2) Through the Account Management Portal

What is the COUNTER harvester URL for Emerald COUNTER reports?

https://connect.liblynx.com/sushi/r51

Where can I find the COUNTER harvester URL 5.1?

It will be listed with the other harvester credentials in the Account Management Portal, if the credentials have been enabled.

Will COUNTER harvester credentials remain the same for harvesting 5.1?

Harvesting credentials are unchanged - both requester IDs and customer IDs.
The harvesting URL is https://connect.liblynx.com/sushi/r51

Libraries harvest 5.1 reports using the new URL with the existing credentials.

How long will Emerald be tracking COUNTER 5.0.3?

We are tracking 5.03 complaint data until March 30, 2025, as required by COUNTER.

When do COUNTER 5.1 reports begin?

As per the COUNTER Code of Practice (COP), we have compliant data from January 2025 onward.

What are the primary differences between COUNTER 5.0.3 and COUNTER 5.1?

The largest differences between 5.0.3 and 5.1 relate to the addition of new data_types to track content, to the handing of items as the primary unit of measure, and to the tracking of access types that reflect the growing amount of open access content in the market (namely to use open instead of oa_gold)

For specific information please refer to the COP information about how they differ: https://cop5.projectcounter.org/en/5.1/13-transitioning/03-transitioning-from-counter-r5-to-r51.html
