There are a number of reasons why referring URL access can fail and we have captured some of the usual root causes in our guidance below.
- Check that your default referrer policy settings are passing the full URL details to Emerald. Please see our guidance for more details support on this.
- Try using a different browser as some browsers (e.g. Safari) don't work well for referring URL access
- Clear the cookies/cache on your browse history:
Microsoft Edge: View and Edit Local Storage with Microsoft Edge DevTools
Google Chrome: View and Edit Local Storage With Chrome DevTools
Mozilla Firefox: Manage local site storage settings - For most browsers, if you completely block third party access (sometimes called third party cookies) and/or browse in “private” or “incognito” mode, Referrer URL will not be able to facilitate your login experience.
- Ensure that any anti-virus software or browser add-ons/settings on your laptop/computer aren't blocking Referrer information from being shared.
If you are still having trouble connecting having followed these steps, please contact Emerald Support and include a screenshot of your referrer URL information by clicking here: whatismyreferrer.com
Please note that if the referrer URL indicates "No referrer" or "Referrer hidden" then your browser isn't sending the correct information over to Insight for authentication purposes. Please try a different browser or contact the administrator of the referring site for additional support.
