EZproxy management FAQs

  • What are the database definitions for proxy access to Insight?
Our EZproxy database stanzas are listed here:
    Emerald Insight
    ICE Virtual Library

Please note these will be updated before our new platform launches on 21st July.

  • When do I need to update my proxy settings?
On 21st July, Emerald Insight and the ICE Virtual Library will merge into a single platform. OCLC will update the database definitions in the links above. If you have an OCLC-managed EZproxy, you should not need to take any further action; however, if you self-host your proxy server, please update your database definitions in accordance with the update information in the links above

  • How do I stop the re-writing of proxy URLs?
In order to allow us to switch off URL re-writing for 3rd party URLs, please add the following line to the stanza above the Emerald entry for our database definition below. Further information about this requirement is available on OCLC's support pages here.

    Title Emerald
    URL https://www.emerald.com/insight

  • Do Emerald support IPv6 authentication?
Insight supports both IPv4 and IPv6 authentication. As such, it may be necessary to specify whether EZproxy should use IPv6 or IPv4 to listen for login requests and database source IPs. If your access is being impacted by the above connection refused message, please see OCLC's Interface support pages for guidance.

  • How do I contact OCLC Support?
If your EZproxy server is hosted by OCLC and you are experiencing access issues, please contact them directly via your local OCLC Support team (OCLC Customer Support) and ask them to ensure that they have listed the correct database definitions for your EZproxy server.

If you need any further assistance, please contact Emerald Customer Support.
